There is nothing quite like coming from a frozen landscape and arriving to find that the worst day for weather on your schedule looks like warm rain and blooming flowers. Spending time in a tropical climate means fresh, nutritious meals built around tropical fruit that is everything we wish we could find in Alaska's grocery stores.
We could enjoy snake fruit, dragon fruit, bananas, coconuts, pineapples, passion fruit, and so much more. They are just like blueberries that grow along the trail in Alaska. Tho these fruits were readily available along footpaths, side streets, and highways, I couldn't disregard the presentation and pairing at local cafes and Instagram-worthy eateries. Table service of these fresh selections was a staple for every meal, especially breakfast.
Because of Indonesia's coffee culture, breakfast and coffee breaks looked like something straight out of a magazine. Fresh-squeezed juice, smoothies, lattes, cold brew, and other beverages paired very well with the fresh fare and artfully curated environments of Bali's food scene. Breakfast isn't just another meal meant to start your day. It is the first chapter in the endless memories that you will be making while wandering through a bright world filled with sweet-smelling flowers, fruit that will make you change how you see grocery stores, and sunshine that never seems to be gone for long.
When in Bali, eat the fruit, drink the coffee, and dance in the rain. I promise you, it's never the wrong choice.
