When I travel for group activities, I like to get where I am going before everyone else. This gives me a chance to explore on my own time, do things I want to do but others might not, and check things off my list that may interfere with plans bigger than just me. When I went to Las Vegas for my best friend's wedding, I arrived days early. I was googling things to do and landed on a short list of restaurants, activities, and shopping. The top of my list was visiting the Ethel M. Botanical Cactus Gardens and Chocolate Factory. I scheduled a wine and Chocolate tasting focused on white chocolate and appropriate white wine pairings. Sweet treats and sensual sips were delightful. The presenters shared so much information about what makes white chocolate, how it's made, how each flavor is produced, what inspires their chocolateers, and the history of Ethel M. Chocolates.
Ethel M. Chocolates was founded by Forrest Mars, the creator of M&M's and Mars bars. He aptly named his new venture after his mother, who inspired him and whom he adored. They create bespoke chocolates and truffles using ingredients and flavors that transcend your ideal of what chocolate should be, far outshining Mars chocolates available elsewhere.
I recommend getting the customizable gift box and keeping it in the freezer while in Las Vegas. This will keep your treats from melting and keep them fresh.
My favorite was the white chocolate and vanilla truffle. I would gladly sip on a glass of dry champagne with a few of these delightful tidbits.
